About Telangana

Telangana is the recently formed and 29th State of India, which is unique and formidable in many ways. Although the region has its share of ups and downs, from centuries, it is still growing strong and in fact, it is the major financial, education and strategic center for the entire country.

History

The history of Telangana region dates back to the rule of Chalukyas, approximately around 500 BCE, and the subsequent rulers were Satavahanas, Kakatiyas, and others. But, the pick of them was Kakatiyas, who were just formidable in ruling, and the land was full of joy until the decline of the Kakatiya Empire. Muhammad bin Tughluq had waged several wars against Kakatiyas, and finally, they were thrown out of power, and after which, the dynasties of Tughluq, Bahamani Sultanate, Qutub Shahi and Asif Jahi have ruled the region.

The Asif Jahi dynasty or Nizams are the last to rule the Telanaga region, after which, it was merged into the independent democratic country of India. In1956, on linguistic basis, the region was merged with Andhra region to form Andhra Pradesh State, with Hyderabad as the state’s capital. But, that didn’t worked out, and the people of Telangana have led numerous agitations for decades, demanding bifurcation of the state and formation of Telangana State. Finally, they have achieved the demand on June 2nd 2014.
