1) Institution of Engineers India (IEI) - Student chapter Inauguration
The Civil Engineering Department of Methodist College of Engineering and Technology, Abids, Hyderabad, inaugurated Student Chapter of Institution of Engineers India on 4th March 2017. To grace the occasion, from Methodist college – Director, Dr. M.Lakshmipathi Rao, Dean, Dr. S. Venkateswar, Head of Civil Department A. S.Prasad & Faculty Mr. R. Srikanth were present. About 120 students attended the event.
The Institution of Engineers (India) [IEI] is a statutory body to promote and advance the engineering and technology, established in 1920 and incorporated by Royal Charter in 1935. It is the largest multi-disciplinary professional body of engineers encompassing 15 (fifteen) engineering disciplines with a Corporate membership of over 2 lakhs, and serving the nation for more than 9 decades. The IEI has its headquarters located in Kolkata with national presence through more than hundred Centres and several Overseas Chapters, Foras and Organ.
2) Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) - Student chapter Inauguration
The Civil Engineering Department of Methodist College of Engineering and Technology, Abids, Hyderabad, launched Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) - MCET Student Chapter on 26th Feb, 2018. Professionals present to mark the inaugural function were Mr. Ch. Shekar Reddy, IGBC Chairman, HYD Chapter and Mr. M. Raghu, Director, IGBC Hyderabad Chapter. About 38 students attended the event.
The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) was formed in the year 2001. The vision of the council is, "To enable a sustainable built environment for all and facilitate India to be one of the global leaders in the sustainable built environment by 2025". The council offers a wide array of services which include developing new green building rating programmes, certification services and green building training programmes. The council also organises Green Building Congress, its annual flagship event on green buildings.
