The department of civil engineering was established in 2013 with an intake of 60 students. The intake was increased to 120 students in 2014. Currently the department have an intake of 30 students. The main strength of the department is the team highly qualified and experienced faculty, including 3 doctorates, who are highly active in teaching as well as in research and development. The department strives to offers quality and holistic education to the students. Students of department have bagged University ranks 7th and 4th in the last two consecutive years.
Faculty:
The department faculty are graduated from many reputed universities, naming a few are NIT's, OU, JNTU etc and also from International Universities. Some faculty members are well experienced in the industrial area that helps nurturing the students in the practical concepts of Civil engineering. The faculty are also continuously updated in their teaching & research skills through continuous training programs. Many of the teaching faculty are members of professional bodies of national repute such as IEI, ISTE, IWRS, ICI, ISNT, ISSS, IAStructE, IGBC, etc. The technical staff of the department are efficient and experienced to handle the equipment and also to train the students in this regard.
Infrastructure:
The department is equipped with excellent up-to-date laboratory facilities and is dedicated to offering hands-on practical orientation to the students. Some of the laboratories are equipped with facilities beyond the curriculum to enable innovative student projects and research activities.
Student’s Self and Professional Development:
In addition to quality teaching and curricular input, the department is active in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities for the benefit of the students. Students have participated at State and National Level technical, cultural and sports contests and have won many awards and medals. The department interacts with the industry through the professional societies and has active student chapters of Institution of Engineers (IEI), Indian Association of Structural Engineers (IAStructE) and Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). The department is very active in organizing technical events, industrial visits, workshops, seminars, webinars and conferences for the benefit of students. The student chapters actively support the department in organizing technical events, industrial visits, workshops and conferences for academic growth. The notable events are Two-day National Conference on “Recent Trends in Structural Engineering (RTSE-2017)” and Two-day Industrial Workshop on “Civil Engineering Technologies – Industrial Practices (CETIP-2018)”. The department has MoUs with NGOs and industries for training and professional enrichment of the students.

Dr. Bandita Naik is an accomplished academic and researcher with a B.Tech in Civil Engineering from BPUT Rourkela, and a Ph.D. in Water Resources Engineering from NIT Rourkela. She has received prestigious recognitions, including the Best Researcher Award by Knowledge Research Academy and a Young Scientist Travel Grant from DST. Her international engagements include research at institutions like the University of Leeds, the University of South Carolina, and EPFL in Switzerland. Dr. Naik has guided numerous M.Tech and B.Tech projects and has over a decade of teaching experience. Her research, which has garnered significant citations, focuses on hydraulic modeling, climate change impacts, and water resource optimization. She is also an active participant in academic committees and has contributed extensively to workshops, conferences, and professional development initiatives.
