Nagarjuna Sagar main Power House

To provide practical knowledge Power plants and electricity generation, department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering of MCET students (V & VII Sem) visited Nagarjuna Sagar main Power House on 11/12/2021. Nagarjuna Sagar Dam is a masonry dam across the Krishna River at Nagarjuna Sagar which straddles the border between Palnadu district in Andhra Pradesh and Nalgonda district in Telangana.[2] The dam provides irrigation water to the districts of Palnadu, Guntur, Nalgonda, Prakasam, Khammam, Krishna, and parts of West Godavari. It is also a source of electricity generation for the national grid. Constructed between 1955 and 1967, the dam created a water reservoir with gross storage capacity of 11.472 billion cubic metres (405.1×109 cu ft), its effective capacity is 6.92 cubic km or 244.41 Tmcft. The dam is 124 metres (407 ft) tall from its deepest foundation and 1.6 kilometres (5,200 ft) long with 26 flood gates which are 13 metres (42 ft) wide and 14 metres (45 ft) tall.[6] It is jointly operated by Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Nagarjuna Sagar Dam was the earliest in a series of large infrastructure projects termed as "modern temples" initiated for achieving the Green Revolution in India. It is also one of the earliest multi-purpose irrigation and hydroelectric projects in India.

Industrial Visits

Industrial Visit to Sri Sailam Hydro Power Plant

Industrial visits provide an excellent opportunity for the students to interact with industries and know more about industrial environment. Industrial visits are arranged by department for the students with an objective of providing them functional opportunity in different sectors which also helps to combine theoretical knowledge with industrial knowledge. Industrial realities are opened to the students through industrial visits. Industrial visit to Srisailam Hydro Electric Station (HES) on 15/02/2020 offered a great source to gain practical knowledge. 43 Students of VI semester, observed and learned as to how theatrical concepts are put to into action, thereby aiding their practical learning. Students are exposed to real working environment and shown how things are done in HES. Students Review about the Industrial visit 160717734041 PAVANI GANDRETI Industrial visit to Srisailam HES was a good experience which provided us exposure to the industrial practiceswhich can link theoretical knowledge and practical. 160717734315 SOUJANYA MYLARAPU It was a wonderful experience which merged our theoretical learning with the practical skills. 160717734007 SUSMITHA It was a very good experience for me as well as for all other students. A huge bulk of students for industrial visit is impossible but our department made it possible. 160717734042 SHIVA SAI We got the whole knowledge of HES plant. Also we experienced that how process is carried out in the electric power plants.
