INTERNAL COMPLAINTS COMMITTEE (ICC)

The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) is constituted as per UGC Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal of Sexual Harassment of Women Employees and Students in Higher Educational Institutions Regulations, 2015. The above regulations are based on the Government of India’s Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013. Mahilaratna Puspatai Hiray Arts, Science and Commerce Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Malegaon Camp constituted an Internal Complaint Committee (ICC) for maintaining a healthy and safe environment for girls and women employees in the campus.

The ICC committee aims to prevent sexual harassment, promote the well-being of all female students and staff members and create a gender-sensitized community within academic and non-academic environments in this educational institution.

Definition of Sexual Harassment

Sexual harassment includes any one or more of the following unwelcome acts or behavior (whether directly or by implication):

  1. a) Physical contact and advances
  2. b) A demand or request for sexual favors
  3. c) Sexually colored remarks
  4. d) Showing pornography, making or posting vulgar/ indecent/ sexual pranks
  5. e) Any other unwelcome physical, verbal or non-verbal conduct of sexual nature
OBJECTIVES
  1. Eliminate acts of harassment and provide procedures for redressal.
  2. Deal with complaints in a sensitive, prompt, unbiased, and confidential manner.
  3. Equip all members with legal knowledge and grievance redressal methods.
  4. Encourage free and fearless expression of grievances.
  5. Raise awareness of various forms of sexual harassment.
  6. Ensure quick justice through regular meetings.
FUNCTIONS

The Internal Complaints Committee’s major functions entail:

  • Implement policies related to sexual harassment prevention.
  • Resolve complaints from aggrieved individuals.
  • Recommend appropriate action to the employer.

COMPOSITION OF THE COMMITTEE

ICC Cell consists of 1 coordinator, 1 faculty member from each department, and 1 student from each class.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS

The Internal Complaints Committee, once constituted, plays a pivotal role in the effective implementation of its provisions at the workplace.

  • Follow natural justice principles
  • Forward to police if needed
  • Submit inquiry report with recommendations
